From digital ordering and social media marketing to all things mobile and geo-located – today, restaurateurs face an ever-changing industry. This week, we’re excited to announce a partnership with Caviar, Grubhub, and Uber Eats that offers delivery and pick-up options at thousands of restaurants on our newly updated OpenTable iOS app.
By adding delivery, we hope to give diners another way to experience your restaurant, even if a table isn’t available (or they just can’t make it in). Restaurants can increase revenue through delivery when reservations are limited and keep building loyalty with guests, with no additional fees to their OpenTable bill.
As Joseph Essas, OpenTable’s CTO, adds: “Sometimes, plans change or the weather doesn’t cooperate. Instead of canceling their reservation, diners can now enjoy the meal they had planned from home.”
It’s no secret that off-premise dining is booming and changing the way restaurants operate. In the U.S., restaurant delivery sales are predicted to rise about 12 percent annually over the next four years, eventually reaching $76 billion.
“While we know that our diners love to join us to get the full restaurant experience, we understand they need options for when they can’t make it in,” explains Dan Simons, co-owner and founder of Farmers Restaurant Group. “Delivery through OpenTable gives us the flexibility to attract and serve diners, no matter where they are and how they want their meal.”
As more delivery providers have popped up, we know diners spend time bouncing between sites and apps. With OpenTable’s more than 2 billion seated diners (and counting), we can help with that! Our ultimate goal is to become a one-stop, all-inclusive restaurant operating system, connecting with all the platforms and services you rely on for seamless efficiency. In-app delivery takes us one step closer to that end.
In the coming months, we plan to continue improving the app experience for diners, so that they can see relevant information like estimated delivery time and cost. We also hope to expand our roster of partners, so users see even more available options.
